API Expands to Streamline Molecular Multiplex Proficiency Test Results
June 21, 2021
The American Proficiency Institute (API) announces another innovation in API DataDirect, where laboratory information systems (LIS) seamlessly transmit proficiency test results. Adding to the transmittal of both qualitative and quantitative test results, clinical laboratories can now upload results for microbiology molecular multiplex testing, a first-in-class achievement.
According to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), “Clerical or transcription errors are considered incorrect results.”
“Direct transmission of proficiency test results from a laboratory’s LIS or middleware, eliminates clerical errors,” explains Daniel C. Edson, API President. Now in its tenth year of operation, API DataDirect can work with all LIS and middleware, with no installation of new software.
“With more than four million proficiency results for quantitative and qualitative testing uploaded using DataDirect, that’s a lot of costly clerical errors avoided,” said Edson.
The American Proficiency Institute is one of the largest proficiency testing providers in the world, serving over 20,000 laboratories. API offers innovative solutions and technical excellence for the proficiency testing needs of hospital and reference laboratories, physician offices, clinics, and point-of-care testing sites.
