Big News for 2026 — API Expands Scholarship Program to 8 Awards for MLS & MLT Students!

For nearly two decades, American Proficiency Institute (API) has helped students take the next step toward their future in the clinical laboratory. That impact will now reach twice as many students as API expands its annual scholarship awards program. Applications will be accepted for the 2026 API Scholarships beginning on March 2, 2026.

“The decision to expand the program was driven by a desire to strengthen the pipeline that supports the laboratory’s future workforce,” explained Sue Harmer, API President. “Skilled laboratory professionals are at the core of accurate, reliable patient test results.”

API will now offer eight scholarships annually. Four scholarships of $5,000 each will be awarded to medical laboratory science (MLS) students who have completed the second year of their MLS program. In addition, four scholarships of $2,500 each will be given to medical laboratory technician (MLT) students who have completed the first year of their MLT program.
